Mazda has released pricing information on their upcoming CX-90, an all-new three-row SUV poised to be the brand’s new flagship.
As Mazda continues to lean further and further into premium brand offerings, it’s not unexpected to see them launch the CX-90 as exactly that. Furthermore, with premium three-row utility comes premium three-row pricing, as the CX-90 will start at $40,970.
That price is for the 3.3 Turbo Select model, the entry-level CX-90, and includes Mazda’s $1,375 destination charge (customers in Alaska will need to fork up a little more for delivery, $1,420 total). Standard features include eight-passenger seating with second and third-row benches, upholstered in black leatherette; a 10.25-inch infotainment display and 7-inch LCD instrument panel; and smartphone integration, among others. The 3.3 Turbo is available in Preferred, Preferred Plus, Premium and Premium Plus trims, each priced out below.
Each of these– as their names suggest– are powered by an all-new 3.3-liter turbocharged inline-6 engine. They come standard with all-wheel drive (as all CX-90’s do), putting out 280 horsepower and 332 lb-ft of torque on regular fuel. In order to fully capitalize on the CX-90’s max tow rating of 5,000 lbs, customers will need to step up at least the Turbo Preferred Plus model, which features a specialized Towing drive mode.
Following them are the “S” models: The 3.3 Turbo S, Turbo S Premium and Turbo S Premium Plus. They feature a more powerful version of the inline-6, bumped up to 340 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel. The “S” models also up the CX-90’s towing capacity to 5,000 lbs, and is standard equipped with seven-passenger seating with the option for a six-passenger configuration a la second-row captain’s chairs. A 12.3-inch infotainment display and equally-sized LCD instrument panel are included, along with additional safety features. Pricing on those is listed below, but the Turbo S Premium Plus tops the range at $61,325 before any options.
For a completely different vibe, Mazda is also offering the CX-90 with a plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrain. It consists of a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder, naturally aspirated and paired up to an electric motor and 17.8 kWh battery. Expect 323 horsepower and 369 lb-ft of torque on premium fuel, though pure-EV range figures are yet to be announced. They come standard with the same eight-passenger layout as the entry-level model, though the LCD instrument panel is bumped up to 12.3-inches; the Premium Plus receives the 12.3-inch center display. The CX-90 PHEV Preferred kicks things off at a starting price of $48,820 (again, with destination). Following that are the Premium and Premium plus trims, starting for $54,275 and $58,325 respectively.
