Mazda Canada late February announced pricing for its all-new 2023 CX-50 sport-utility, which will start at $37,900 when it goes on sale in May 2022.
The new model is the first Mazda built in the U.S. at a new plant in Huntsville, Alabama that’s a joint venture with Toyota.
The CX-50 GS-L and GT use a naturally-aspirated 2.5L four-cylinder, making 187 horsepower and 186 lb-ft of torque, and with fuel-saving cylinder deactivation. These will start at $37,900 and $42,850 respectively.
The CX-50 GT Turbo, at $45,350, uses a turbocharged 2.5L making up to 256 horsepower and 320 lb-ft of torque on premium-grade fuel (227/310 on 87-octane gasoline).

All models use a six-speed automatic transmission, all-wheel-drive, and a drive select mode, called Mi-Drive, including settings for Sport, Off-Road, and Tow Mode, with a maximum towing capacity of 2,000 lbs with the naturally-aspirated engine, and up to 3,500 lbs with the turbo.
Standard features on all models will include a panoramic sunroof, power liftgate, LED headlights, dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats and steering wheel, 10-way power driver’s seat, and 10.25-inch infotainment screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Standard driver-assist systems include blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, emergency front braking, adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and automatic high-beam headlights.
The GT models further add such items as leather upholstery, power passenger seat, ventilated front seats, auto-dimming mirror, premium stereo, navigation, wireless phone charging, head-up display, 360-degree camera, rear emergency braking, and adaptive headlights.
Later in 2022, Mazda will also offer the CX-50 Turbo Meridian Edition, with exclusive 18-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, rocker panel and headlight protection, and with available “outdoor-specific” accessories, the company said. Its price will be announced closer to its on-sale date.
