After this, Maserati's new high-performance models will be electric.
We've known for some time that the Maserati V8 was living on borrowed time. As the automaker prepares to go all-electric by the end of the decade, many fans are lamenting the loss of the soulful eight-cylinder. To appease its fans, the Italian brand introduced the Ghibli 334 Ultima and Levante Ultima, a farewell to the excellent V8.
Both models are powered by the Ferrari-derived 3.8-liter V8 and produce healthy outputs of 572 horsepower and 538 lb-ft of torque. Even though Maserati hasn't boosted power, the 334 Ultima is faster than the regular Ghibli Trofeo and can reach 62 mph in 3.9 seconds. The name refers to its 334 km/h top speed (207.54 mph), which makes this the world's fastest production sedan. Take that, Bentley.
This performance improvement comes from several minor but effective upgrades, including new tires, a rear carbon fiber spoiler, and significant weight reductions.

Visually, both models impress with a host of stylish touches. The Ghibli 334 Ultima, in particular, is very dashing thanks to its exclusive Scia di Persia paintwork, uplifted here by Rubino accents. New 21-inch wheels, which also improve aerodynamics, contribute to the overall look.
A more aggressive stance has been achieved thanks to the sporty carbon fiber body kit. This includes the front and rear bumpers, while the lightweight material has also been applied to the mirror caps, B and C pillars, and even the door handles.
The Levante hasn't been left out, either. The performance SUV also benefits from carbon fiber add-ons, 22-inch Orione wheels, and, unlike its sedan sibling, a choice of two exterior colors: Nero Assoluto or Blue Royale. Maserati will only produce 103 examples of both Ultima vehicles, making them seriously exclusive.

The beautifully trimmed interiors of both models also feature a variety of model-specific touches. In the Ghibli, Pale Terracotta leather has been teamed with black Alcantara inserts. Maserati's Trident logo, along with the 334 nomenclature, is embroidered on the headrests.
Lastly, a unique signature that reads “una di 103” sits on the center console. Levante Ultima receives the same finishes but has “V8” embroidered on the headrests instead of the “334” in the Ghibli.
As the swansong for Maserati V8 vehicles, the Ghibli and Levante Ultima are the last of their kind. From here on out, high-powered Masers will be electrified. While we'll miss the V8 soundtrack, the automaker's Folgore lineup looks promising. The new GranTurismo Folgore, for example, can hit 60 mph in 2.7 seconds and has a top speed that knocks on the door of 200 mph. And it doesn't sound too bad – for an electric vehicle, at least.
