This thing sounds nasty.
Deliveries of the 2023 Chevy Corvette Z06 have only been under way for about a month, and people are already starting to modify them. YouTuber Emelia Hartford seems to be going hardest of all, as she’s already begun to assemble a twin-turbo system for her newly delivered Z06. Hartford just published a video showing the car start up for the first time, and it sounds wonderful.
The YouTuber revealed her plans to twin-turbo her orange Z06 on Sunday, going as far as to mount parts of the system to the car. Now, with the charge pipes in place, she’s able to give us our first taste of what a twin-turbo version of the 5.5-liter flat-plane-crank V-8 sounds like. The high pitch rasp remains, but now it’s accompanied by the whooshing noises created by the spooling turbos. Hartford even gives the camera a few revs for our aural pleasure.
Hartford is no stranger to twin-turbo C8s. She made a name for herself modifying her Corvette Stingray with twin turbos, managing to break the world record for quickest C8 in the quarter-mile. We have no doubt she’ll be chasing similar goals with this build.
This Z06 is far from ready to hit the drag strip, of course. It still needs a ton of upgrades and additional parts to run reliably, like upgraded axles and a methanol injection system to compensate for the lack of an intercooler. We can’t wait to see what sorts of numbers it can put up once it’s running properly.
