Ford has not been shy with new electric vehicles, delivering the Mustang Mach-E to customers and following it up soon with the F-150 Lightning EV pickup before its luxury sibling brand, Lincoln, has even gotten a single EV off the ground. But that’s about to change on April 20, when Lincoln debuts its first EV concept, and the teaser for it released today confirms we’re getting some sort of SUV.
Lincoln announced its first all-electric concept will debut on April 20, 2022, and show off “sanctuary reimagined,” as well as the new direction for Lincoln’s future electric vehicles. The teaser animation (below) doesn’t reveal much, but if you crank up the lighting in Photoshop, you can clearly see the outline of an SUV shape. Previously, Ford and Lincoln teased that all-electric versions of the Ford Explorer, and the Lincoln Aviator based on it, would be coming soon.
We previously learned that Lincoln was developing four new EVs, all built on Ford’s new rear- and all-wheel-drive electric vehicle platform, which is different from that of the new Mustang Mach-E. The brand plans to have a global lineup, with each model sold in both the U.S. and China, and Lincoln’s full portfolio should be electrified by 2030.
Expect EV versions of Lincoln’s four core models before anything else, including the Corsair, Nautilus, Aviator, and Navigator. We’d personally love to see another go at the Blackwood pickup, but we aren’t going to hold our breath for that one.
At the bottom of the screen reads: “Lincoln Concept vehicle. Not available for purchase.” This would suggest whatever we do see revealed later this month will not be a production-ready concept you can plop a deposit down for immediately, but instead something more visionary for the brand to show where it’s headed, with more concept EVs likely to follow before anything makes it to production. Whatever it is, we’ll see it in a couple weeks.
