Jharkhand government has upgraded the cars for its cabinet ministers recently. The government bought 11 brand-new Toyota Fortuner SUVs for the ministers and a news report shows that Toyota has started delivering the SUVs to the government and the report shows that the ministers have started using the SUVs as well.
The video Jharkhand Live shows many spanking new Toyota Fortuners that have reached the State Legislative Assembly. Various signboards above the registration number show the designation of the ministers of various departments.
Toyota updated the Fortuner with a facelifted version last year. The new Fortuner owned by the ministers seem like the top-end 4X2 variants. The on-road price of the variants is around Rs 40 lakh, on-road, Jharkhand.
Jharkhand CM bought BMW 5-Series
Soon after taking office in 2019, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren bought a brand-new BMW 5-Series.The new BMW 5-Series replaces the Toyota Camry, which was the earlier official state car for the chief minister.
This is the latest-generation BMW 5-Series but we are not sure if it is an armoured vehicle. While it does not seem like a 5-Series Hi-Security, which is the official BMW armoured version of the model, the spokesperson of the party said that the new car was purchased to ensure the safety of the CM.
Most Indian Chief Ministers use expensive, high-end cars. Even the prime minister of India uses several luxury bulletproof cars for travelling around. Interestingly, the cars for all the ministers are not chosen by them. It is the job of security agencies that protect the ministers.
Updated Toyota Fortuner
The Toyota Fortuner was given a midlife makeover in 2021, which saw mild revisions to its exterior and interior design. There are many new inclusions like a bigger touchscreen infotainment system with Apple Carplay and Android Auto, wireless charger, LED headlamps, dynamic LED turn indicators, ambient lighting, 11-speaker JBL sound system, cooled glove box, auto-dimming inside rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, ventilated front seats and electric tailgate opening.
The Toyota Fortuner is available in two different powertrains, both of which get both the options of 6-speed manual and 6-speed automatic transmissions. The 2.7-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine produces 166 PS of power and 245 Nm of torque, whereas the 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel engine pumps out 204 PS of power and 420 Nm of torque (500 Nm in automatic variants).
Both the engine options are available with rear-wheel drive as standard. However, the diesel-powered avatar is also available with an optional four-wheel-drive version. The Legender variant is exclusively available only in automatic variants.
