Jeep’s 80th-anniversary celebrations will continue into 2021 when Jeep Australia will unveil a limited series of special edition Cherokee, Grand Cherokee, and Wrangler Unlimited models. The limited-edition ’80th Anniversary Special Edition’ models will begin arriving in showrooms in May 2021 at a starting price of $ 51,941.
Inside and out, each vehicle is coated in the 80th anniversary aesthetic, with the Wrangler Unlimited standing out with an 80th-anniversary swing gate plaque paying homage to the original Willys. The vehicles also pay homage to tradition, with the Cherokee and Grand Cherokee receiving a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, while the Wrangler Unlimited receives a Power Top Sky-One-Touch.
Another nice touch on all vehicles is the unique greeting displayed when the 8.4-inch Uconnect touchscreen is activated, which reads “Since 1941.” The Cherokee 80th Anniversary Special Edition is based on the Cherokee Limited and features the same 3.2-liter gasoline engine and nine-speed automatic transmission. Along with the standard equipment on Cherokee Limited and 80th Anniversary models, the special edition features 18-inch “Granite Crystal” wheels, grille surrounds, roof rails, exterior badges, and exterior mirrors, as well as body-colored wheel flares, linings, and dashboard.
Based on the 3.6-liter petrol Grand Cherokee Limited (with eight-speed automatic transmission), the special edition features a slew of cosmetic changes, including 20-inch “Granite Crystal” wheels, exterior mirror caps, grille, badges, and accents; Dark Lens taillights; a black roof molding; and commemorative badges commemorating the 80th anniversary.
Their Special Edition Wrangler Unlimited is based on the 3.6-liter Wrangler Overland petrol engine, which is mated to an eight-speed automatic transmission. Along with the standard model, it features 18-inch Granite Crystal wheels, commemorative 80th-anniversary badges, a gray/black Trail Rated badge, and the aforementioned 80th anniversary Swing Gate plaque.
“Since 1941, Jeep SUVs have been renowned for their unmatched off-road capability and freedom,” said Kevin Flynn, CEO of Jeep Australia.
“Today, the Jeep range maintains best-in-class 4 4 leadership, as well as key attributes such as safety and practicality, superior craftsmanship, and exceptional road dynamics.
We are overjoyed to commemorate the Jeep brand’s eight decades with these limited-edition models and to provide Jeep customers with the opportunity to own a piece of history.”
Jeep Australia will offer 80 Cherokees and 160 Wranglers and Grand Cherokees in total. This announcement follows the launch of the Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Willys earlier this year when a limited run of 130 Willys – inspired by the legendary 1948 Willy Overland CJ-3A – went on sale for $ 61,941.
