If you thought Jeep’s new full-size Wagoneer SUVs couldn’t get any bigger, you’d be wrong. Revealed at the 2022 New York International Auto Show, the Wagoneer family is growing in more ways than one with the debut of the 2023 Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L.
These long-wheelbase versions of the Wagoneer and Grand Wagoneer see an additional 12-inches of overall length and 7-inches of wheelbase to become the longest full-size SUV on the market, even beating out the Chevrolet Suburban by 1-inch.
Stellantis’s all-new Hurricane Twin-Turbo I-6 engine will also make its debut as the only powertrain option on the L models. The Wagoneer L will see 420 horsepower and 468 lb.-ft. of torque while the Grand Wagoneer L’s high output version will deliver 510 horsepower and 500 lb.-ft. of torque. Jeep says the fuel economy should improve 1 to 2 miles-per-gallon combined compared to the existing V-8 engines. Transmission is the TorqueFlight eight-speed automatic and the max towing capacity of 10,000 lbs.
Jeep is even making a special run of 2022 model year Grand Wagoneers with the Hurricane 510 engine that is available to order at dealerships now.
This is still a Jeep so the brand’s three 4×4 systems are available: Quadra-Trac I, Quadra-Trac II and Quadra-Drive II with active low range and rear Electronic Limited-slip Differential.
Inside sees the familiar and premium Wagoneer interior with available 75-inches of screens, McIntosh audio system, built-in rear seat entertainment with Amazon Fire TV, and 120 standard safety features. Third row occupants can enjoy 36.6 inches of legroom and there is 44.2 cubic feet of cargo space behind the third row, up 15.8 from the standard wheelbase. You still have your choice of 7 or 8 passenger configurations.
Plus an all-new Wagoneer L Carbide model debuts which features gloss black wheels, black onyx grille rings, a gloss black mirror and headlamp appliques, technical hydrographic instrument panel trim and doors with global black seats. The Carbide package will be available on Wagoneer starting this spring.
The Wagoneer L and Grand Wagoneer L should start hitting dealerships later this year. Pricing has yet to be announced.
