After debuting its novel EV, Jeep has now unveiled its first-ever go-anywhere EV that adds some off-road flair and all-wheel drive to the recipe. This is the butch but silent Jeep Avenger 4×4.

The concept seen here doesn’t differ too greatly from the Avenger first unveiled at the Paris Motor Show on Monday. Using the same running gear and platform, the more butch alternative boasts some AT running gear but most importantly, a four-wheel drive setup to ensure it is as capable as all of the models that have come before it.
While most buyers in the SUV segment aren’t really bothered by the driving orientation of their vehicle, some consider a Jeep without all-wheel-drive a sacrilegious act. Fortunately, that controversial Avenger which debuted on Monday has now been remedied for the purists somewhat since the Avenger 4×4 concept is here. It is still electric, so old-fashioned explorers who rely on piston power will still be unsatisfied but it is a step into the future for the American manufacturer.
The Stellantis creation is undeniably an attractive proposition that retains athletic proportions but the Avenger 4×4 has taken that to the next level with masculine upgrades. The dual-motor setup is concealed within the same body, although the cladding and external components have been improved to help in off-road adventure. Aside from the different livery and blue accents, the Avenger 4×4 boasts more LED lighting, a roof rack and fatter wheel arches which conceal chunky all-terrain tyres.

No information on the model is available yet but it could potentially feature the same 115 kW and 260 N.m electric motor at the rear which should push output to around 230 kW and 320 N.m. If that is the case, if it retains the same battery back from the standard avenger, its expected range would be significantly reduced with all of the extra weight and rolling resistance.
The compact model that sits 200 mm off of the ground has also undergone some physical upgrades to help it traverse tricky terrain. This includes an improved approach angle of 21 degrees, a departure angle of 34 degrees, and a break-over angle of 20 degrees.
