Whether you’re a long-time player or someone who’s pretty new to the training game, you might need a bit of a primer on how to catch a Ditto in Pokemon GO. How to Catch a Ditto in Pokemon GO
So, you want a Ditto. Well, we’ve probably got some bad news for you. Dittos are a hot commodity because of being in demand thanks to Research activities in Pokemon GO, but they’re not all that easy to actually, well, catch. In fact, we would say that it’s essentially down to RNG, even more so than usual. One thing to note is that Dittos aren’t actually, well, they don’t look like themselves when they appear to you in the wild as you’re wandering around whatever godforsaken suburb you’ve chosen to cruise for Pokemon. Dittos are disguised, as they canonically should be, as other common Pokemon.
There’s a number of Pokemon that could actually be a Ditto in disguise in Pokemon GO, and catching one of these might result in you actually nabbing a Ditto. When you catch a Ditto disguised as one of these Pokemon, you’ll only be alerted after a successful catch:
- Bidoof
- Gulpin
- Hoothoot
- Hoppip
- Ledyba
- Numel
- Paras
- Remoraid
- Seedot
- Skitty
- Spinarak
- Venonat
- Weedle
- Whismur
It’s absolutely impossible to hatch yourself a Ditto in Pokemon GO, so you’re just going to have to catch it. Our hot tip for you would be to set incense or a lure down and make sure that you’re jonesing for the Pokemon from the list above. This will increase your chances to get a Ditto if we’re talking straight statistics but as we’ve said already, it’s definitely going to have to come down to luck. However, it looks like Dittos have a specific spawn so if you have a mate who’s found one at a particular place, you skipping over there will let you get one as well.
