Fuel efficiency has been around 15 km/l when the SUV’s driven between 80-100 km/h.
BHPian zeus_700 recently shared this with other enthusiasts.
Expert opinion is required on hissing noise (remember a train stopping with a noise) while braking.
My XUV700 has done 18,000 kilometres so far. For the last 1 month have been hearing a hissing noise while braking and bringing the vehicle to a standstill, but this happens only when driving through bumper-to-bumper traffic. The sound was evident on the driver’s side but today the same hissing noise started faintly from the co-driver side also.
Service center folks maintain that this is a common phenomenon in AT vehicles but I feel this is uncommon.

Few other updates in the last 4 months.
- Carplay disconnects as usual in wireless mode even after the latest software update. No issues in wired mode. So I am mostly in wired mode only. Peace of mind here.
- Latest software update is the best yet as it almost stopped the loud thud sounds which randomly come while the car is in switch-off mode. Yet the thud sound came only once after the latest update.
- Coolant drain issue due to an O ring going kaput. Fixed after four visits to the dealer. Still keeping an eye on the coolant levels.
- AC conked off. A major research was done and a Technical Assistance Report (TAR) was sent to the plant team and they tracked it down. The culprit was a sensor going kaput.
- Front Brake pad changed at 16000 kilometres on insistence by a service advisor. Next time I will wait for an alert in MID.
- Recent highway run returned 15 KM/L on cruising between 80 and 100 km/h.
- The lights perform really well and are more than sufficient for highway runs. The booster lights after 80 km/h speed are a gimmick.
- No DEF issues so far.
Finally, I want to make things work by finding a fix for these issues and I am fixing my mind to hold on for long. It’s a battle between head and heart.
I hope Mahindra reads this thread and needs to do more quality checks.
