GM is working overtime to prepare for the launch of the C8 Corvette Z06, which is expected to happen this summer.
We’ve been waiting what seems like forever for the C8 Corvette Z06 to launch, let alone learn how it will be priced and when it begin shipping to customers. Regardless, with each passing day, it seems as if we’re getting closer to that point, and it looks like General Motors is also working overtime to prepare for that special event, too. At least, that’s what John from MidEngineCorvetteForum has revealed via a confidential source, as he recently posted some information regarding GM’s efforts to ensure that it can build enough of the new sports car to satisfy customer demand.
“Thanks to my little birdie for sharing this very precise information,” John said. “I have known this person who works at a GM plant for quite a while; his integrity and honesty is 1,000%. He noted that unlike previously when they made small batches of this specific part initially for the very first mules/EX versions, and after that but before recently for Z06 CTFs, they just started turning them out in mass, in numbers meaning for customer cars.”
This is obviously critical as supply chain shortages continue to plague automotive production, as GM doesn’t want to botch the launch of the C8 Corvette Z06 following all of its incredibly positive press. The automaker already has tens of thousands of unfinished vehicles sitting around waiting on parts, and has also been forced to remove certain features temporarily from its models in an effort to keep deliveries churning along.
As for when the C8 Corvette Z06 might actually go on sale, it seems as if John has some inside info on that matter, too. “BTW, today’s confirming information fits in with the timing for the start of regular production date I have heard (that from three top level sources). Things are moving ahead. I celebrate today’s confirming good news that Z06 customer production is coming this summer!”
Of course, these are just rumors, but they’re encouraging, nonetheless. It isn’t easy launching a new model in these trying times, but with any luck, GM will be able to do just that with a little careful preparation, which seems to be precisely what it’s doing here.
