The Blue Oval’s facelifted Focus hot hatch has been delayed until August in Australia due to supply shortages stemming from the Ukraine conflict
The Australian arrival of the facelifted 2022 Ford Focus ST range has now been delayed until August following supply issues relating to its new ‘Sync 4’ infotainment system, caused by the ongoing Ukraine conflict.
The Hyundai i30 N and Volkswagen Golf GTI competitor’s production is now on hold until June, which will allow time for affected Ukraine-based suppliers to relocate in order to be able to supply the necessary parts and semiconductors for the 2022 ST’s huge 13.2-inch ‘Sync 4’ infotainment system.
Australian customer deliveries are expected to start in August, assuming there are no further delays.

“The SYNC 4 parts shortage is still ongoing in Europe and we don’t have definite timing yet as to when it will be resolved.
“What we can confirm at this stage is that our approach is not to compromise on spec, and as a result Focus ST production is currently on hold until June, when our relocated suppliers expect to be able to supply the parts and semiconductors to build the SYNC 4 assembly,” a Ford Australia spokesperson told Chasing Cars today.

The 2022 Ford Focus ST will come in two grades, a base variant and an auto-only ST-X variant.
Standard kit on the Ford Focus ST includes 18-inch alloy wheels, 14-way electric Ford Performance seats, LED headlights, a 13.2-inch infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital driver’s display, 10-speaker B&O Play sound system, dual-zone climate control, ambient lighting, and wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto.
Multiple drive modes are available to tailor the 2.3-litre Ecoboost engine
For an extra $4500, the ST-X comes with larger 19-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic sunroof, a head-up display, adaptive dampers, launch control and dynamic pixel LED headlights, however the ST-X is not available with a manual transmission.
All Focus STs come standard with a 2.3-litre Ecoboost turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 206kW/420Nm and includes ‘anti-lag technology’ that keeps the car ‘on boost’ even when the throttle is closed.
An electronic limited-slip differential is also standard across the Focus ST range, along with the choice of either a six-speed manual or seven-speed automatic transmissions for the base ST variant.
