The Ford Fiesta is consistently the UK’s best selling car thanks to being affordable, compact, reasonably practical, and great to drive. Its flair for being a good steer is amplified in the Fiesta ST hot hatchback, a vehicle that’s arguably the best little firecracker in its class. This fan favourite is about to get even better with a series of upgrades designed to maximise fun behind the wheel. Meet the Ford Fiesta ST Edition.
Why is it called ‘Edition’? This car will be limited to just 300 examples in the UK, making it quite the rarity. Externally you’ll be able to pick it out via its eye-catching Azura Blue paintwork, prominent spoiler, black diffuser and various other styling upgrades. Take a closer look and you’ll notice this hot hatch’s smart 18-inch alloy wheels that actually save 8kg versus the standard rims.
Under the skin things start to get interesting with new adjustable coilover suspension that serves to boost the Fiesta ST’s prowess on a B-road. The new suspension also features a myriad of bump and rebound settings – something for enthusiasts to geek-out over – and also drops the car’s height by up to 15mm. The previously optional Quaife limited-slip differential and launch control program is included in this package at no cost.
The interior remains largely untouched, although the addition of a chunky multi-function sports steering wheel is notable. In fact, it’s not all that dissimilar from the wheel used by its bigger brother, the Focus ST. Blue contrasting stitching adds a bit more character to the sporty interior that already includes a set of Recaro seats.
Under the bonnet it is business as usual with no mechanical changes. That means an enthusiastic turbocharged 1.5-litre three-cylinder engine awaits, producing 197bhp and 214lb ft of torque. This front-wheel drive performance car is available as a manual only.
The Ford Fiesta ST Edition is available to order right now, with a sticker price of £24,900. If you’re tempted to get your hands on what will likely be a contender for hot hatchback of the year, you’ll have to move fast as it won’t take long for 300 lucky owners to be found.
