This is the Fiesta ST Edition edition, the ‘Edition’ part of the name denoting that this edition has adaptive suspension and lighter wheels for an even better driving experience than the standard edition. Edition.
It’s three-door only, comes only in the Azure Blue paint you see in the pictures here and costs £27,075 exactly. That’s quite a lot actually because you can have a new Fiesta ST-2, with all the driving LOLs that particular edition will give you, for £22,275. So, what’s your five-odd grand getting you then?
It’s getting you a little button marked ‘S’ on the steering wheel. S for ‘sport’, which puts the drivetrain into sportier settings linked to the steering, throttle response, exhaust and, now, damping. The standard ST has fixed springs and dampers, but this Edition editon has a two-way adjustable setup. As with the standard car there are selectable Normal, Sport and Track modes.
The suspension, which features springs painted in blue to match the car, sets the stance 15mm lower at the front and 10mm lower at the rear as compared to a regular ST, and it’s linked to new 18-inch alloy wheels, each around 2kg lighter than the standard rims. According to Ford, the 10-spoke wheels “follow the profile of rougher road surfaces more effectively and reduce the demand on the Fiesta ST Edition’s dampers and springs, improving tyre contact with the road for improved grip and responses.”
The ST Edition also comes with a mechanical limited slip differential as standard, sharpening turn-in and handling response. And finally, the car gets a launch control feature too, helping drivers achieve the car’s 6.5-second official 0-62mph time. That comes from a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine with 197bhp and 290Nm, the latter from just 1900rpm and giving the Fiesta ST its sense of urgency. Fuel economy is 42.8mpg with 149g/km CO2.
Visual enhancements, aside from the paint, include contrasting black bits including the rear diffuser, grille, mirror caps, roof spoiler and ST badges. The interior gets carbon fibre effect detailing, contrasting blue stitching and the new steering wheel incorporating the big S button.
Based on the ST-3 model, the Edition edition comes as standard with Ford’s SYNC 3 touchscreen infotainment setup, wireless phone charging, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, climate control and cruise control.
It’s available to order now, limited to just 500 copies Europe-wide.
