The new mobile app includes video recording capabilities, offline maps – and even tire pressure monitoring capabilities. Sadly, it's for Bronco owners only.
Ford has released a new mobile app aimed at Bronco owners who love nothing more than exploring the great outdoors. The Bronco Trail App features around 1,200 off-road trail maps, situated in the USA, Mexico, and Canada. With built-in recording capabilities, users can capture daring off-roading memories.
Here's how it works. Once the Bronco Trail App has been downloaded, owners need to link it to their FordPass account. This will avail approximately 18,000 miles of exciting trails in the aforementioned regions. Owners can peruse the various trails, and select their favorites based on length, difficulty, and location. You can even save an appealing route for future use; this will come in handy when planning road trips and vacations.
Each trail has a unique description, providing users with an idea of what they can expect.
Once you've reached your desired trail, the app will notify you of various points of interest. Demanding challenges will be highlighted, along with waypoints and stunning scenery. There's even a feature that will alert the driver of gorgeous spots to stop and take a few pictures.
The app allows users to give their own input once they've completed a trail. You can add notes (allowing users to warn others of tricky terrain, for example) and even share photos with the Bronco-driving community. Some of the best off-road trails are often far removed from civilization, so accessing internet connectivity may be an issue.
Ford has gotten around this issue, though. Users can download maps ahead of time and view them even when they're offline. This is similar to the new update rolled out to Google Maps, making it easier to explore national parks nationwide.
Various map styles are available, including 2D topographical maps and satellite imagery.
But the Bronco Trail App goes beyond locating the very best trails North America has to offer. As seasoned off-road enthusiasts know, certain trails require higher or lower tire pressures. It's difficult to know what you'll need ahead of time, but the app has a built-in real-time pressure gauge and can even suggest the recommended levels for the selected trail. This can also be used even if the cellular connection is sketchy at best.
The video-capturing feature is handy for several reasons. The finished recording includes important data such as speed, RPM, elevation, and even distance traveled. You can share these videos with friends to compare respective runs or study the footage to see where you can improve next time. Videos are automatically saved to your phone and can be shared with friends, family, and the greater Bronco community with ease.
The new app will be made available for Bronco SUV owners only and debuted at the Bronco Safari 2023 event.
Owners with Apple and Google Android mobile devices can now download the handy application and hit the best trails North America has to offer. Additional trails and features will be rolled out in the future.

We recently learned that Ford has plans to introduce several new Bronco trim levels soon. We're unsure what they could be, but the Dearborn-based brand may dig into its past and reveal more retro-inspired models, as it did last year with the Heritage limited editions.
