Stellantis, the parent company of Jeep, has announced the Dare Forward 2030 strategy that will define the future of the large umbrella of automotive brands that Stellantis encompasses. The highlight of the announcement was the first fully-electric SUV under the Jeep banner set for launch in the first part of 2023.
The car will be based on Stellantis’ STLA platform, a dedicated platform for EVs. Externally, the EV bears some resemblance to the Jeep Renegade, and looks quite smart. The car has the signature 7-slatted front grille but it is closed off as there is no need to cool an internal combustion engine. It is flanked by rectangular headlamps with LED DRLs. The Jeep electric SUV looks quite muscular and appears to have compact proportions similar to the Renegade. The rear has 3D LED taillamps.

Jeep already has a range of plug-in hybrid EV (PHEV) variants of the Compass, Wrangler, Grand Cherokee and Renegade models on sale internationally. These models are also being considered for the Indian market. For 2022, Jeep will follow up the launch of the Compass Trailhawk with that of the locally assembled new generation Grand Cherokee and the three-row Meridian SUV. While the EV has not been confirmed for India, at the rate of growth of EVs in the country, the Jeep EV might arrive here in 2024.
