The Bugatti Divo is one of the most striking cars the French manufacturer has ever created. Based upon the Chiron model, the one of 40 Bugatti is a true representation of modern-day coach building. A quintet of Divos left the factory and are now on their way to their excited new owners.
They look pretty stunning, don’t they? These first five examples of the Divo have been beautifully specified, each with its own unique personality. It is a much more dynamic looking car than the high-speed Chiron, and features notable more downforce for a handling-biased experience.
Named after the prestigious French Grand Prix driver Albert Divo, these cars are true automotive artworks. In addition to their intricate and bespoke bodies, they feature a quad-turbocharged W16 motor at their heart. 0-62mph is completed in just 2.4 seconds thanks to 1,479bhp. Its top speed is limited to 236mph – slower than a Chiron – while producing an additional 90kg of downforce. Corner loads are also improved, now being up to 1.6g.
Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti said: “The Divo starts a new era at Bugatti – the era of modern coachbuilding. With the Divo we have created a highly customised masterpiece of automotive craftsmanship that is a must-have for any Bugatti collection.”
While coachbuilding is nothing new, the way in which Bugatti goes about it is. Extensive use of 3D printing allows designers to create complexities that would be far more difficult forged via other methods. 44 individual fins make up the rear lights and grille element, a real feast for the eyes and a great example of how this new 3D technology is being used.
Want a Bugatti Divo? Of course you do! Sadly, you’re too late as all 40 examples are spoke for at a cost of £4.5 million each.
