The CUPRA Born is one of the mini electrics that came at the end of 2021 with a bang, outselling other models in the Spanish manufacturer’s lineup in terms of orders. The company has already announced that two more models would be added to the lineup.
From one brand to the next, sales techniques are vastly diverse. While some like to provide their most powerful and complex solutions initially, others choose to do it the other way around in order to get more consumers. The Spanish company chose the first option in the case of the CUPRA Born, because the electric compact is available with a medium-capacity battery and really sporty performance.
And it was a superb move, because order books are piling up left and right, to the point that production of the Audi Q4 e-tron has been impacted, and the four rings are already relocating production of their models to the Brussels factory. A unique position that might get much more complicated in 2022, as CUPRA is already working on two new versions of the model.
Three alternatives will be available in the CUPRA Born 2022 offer.
Currently, the offer is restricted to one choice, the most powerful in terms of performance, with a 150 kW electric motor (204 horsepower) and a 58 kWh net battery that provides a maximum range of 424 kilometers. The first of the electrics from the Spanish sports brand will complete the line with two more basic variants in terms of performance during the course of next year.
The electric motor’s power will be lowered to 110 kW or 150 CV, and it will be supported by a lithium-ion battery with two levels of capacity, the most basic of 45 kWh and the most advanced of 77 kWh, both net numbers, and maximum autonomy of 330 and 550 kilometers, respectively.
Two intriguing possibilities that will enable you to save money and gain access to the range, as well as one with the most potential autonomy, albeit neither will provide the same degree of sporting performance as the present model. None of them will feature the “boost” function, which increases the power for a few seconds (the 204 version has up to 245 hp).
The new CUPRA Born is already on its way to the Spanish sports brand’s showrooms. Its first electric vehicle has been dubbed “one of the firm’s references,” with demand for the sportier variants of the Ateca and León already surpassing supply. The tiny electric vehicle “CUPRA Connect Gen.4” introduces a new generation of connection services.
The new CUPRA Born is already on its way to dealerships, known as CUPRA Garages, and to consumers, fulfilling the Spanish sports brand’s deadlines. The first completely electric car, which was originally part of SEAT but was subsequently transferred to what would become the brand for high-end sportiness and electrification.
El Born has been waiting to provide its customers with more sporty characteristics to set it apart from the competition and the Volkswagen ID.3.
Something it will do in particular beginning in 2022, when the company releases its first significant wireless software upgrade, which will include a “e-boost” function, releasing more power from the battery with the maximum capacity, 58 kWh net.
Advanced connection services are available on the CUPRA Born.
CUPRA’s first new generation electric also features a revolutionary infotainment and connection platform not seen in combustion vehicles. The connectivity services on the León and Ateca are “CUPRA Connect Gen.3,” while the zero-emission model is “CUPRA Connect Gen.4”.
The distinctions are important since it not only performs all of the activities of the CUPRA combustion models, but it also has a separate package for its electric condition, which can be customized via the 12-inch touch screen or the application.
Among the new features is the “e-Manager” feature, which allows you to set a maximum recharge percentage that, if achieved, would terminate the process. When we consider that the battery should not be charged to 100%, this feature is really handy.
This feature also allows you to arrange the charging procedure to take place during the night or at different times throughout the day, even during the week; all you need to do is stop the Born, turn off the engine, and connect it to the charger. The app has up to five individual profiles and three timing routines, as well as a hot or cold pre-air conditioning feature for the inside. Up to 30 new services are planned for the following months, according to the brand.
