Consumer Reports recommends only three 2022 compact SUVs. One is the Nissan Rogue Sport. However, owners of previous models beg to differ. Why does CR like the Rogue Sport but owners give it low scores?

Overall, the 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport scored 77 out of 100 from Consumer Reports. The compact crossover impressed with its transmission, ride, noise control, and braking performance.
Predicted reliability earned the highest rating of 5 out of 5. According to CR’s data, the Rogue Sport has had few problems reported so far. There were some issues with the drive system and the brakes, but both have improved over time. Other issues reported concerned the paint/trim job or body hardware.
The other area that earned the SUV its decent overall score was its road test — 72 out of 100 points. CR noted the Rogue Sport isn’t as roomy as the regular Rogue model, but the Sport has plenty of storage for those who don’t require much for their needs.
According to Consumer Reports, the 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport also offers a serene ride and responsive handling. But it isn’t quite as sporty as its name implies.
Like all other new Nissan models, the Rogue Sport comes standard with forward-collision warning and automatic emergency braking.
How do owners rate the Nissan Rogue Sport?
Though Consumer Reports recommends the 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport, owners have a different view. The 2022 model’s predicted owner satisfaction score is the worst possible: 1 out of 5. Only one area — styling — received an average score of 62 out of 100 from owners.
The other three categories that make up the owner satisfaction portion of CR’s survey earned below-average scores of 55 and 56 out of 100. They included driving experience, value, and comfort. Value and driving scored the lowest of the three.
Asked if they would buy the Nissan Rogue Sport again if given the chance, most owners said they wouldn’t. In fact, only 42% of respondents said they would.

The Nissan Rogue Sport didn’t impress many owners, but it’s certainly not the only compact SUV to fail to do so. Three other models had even fewer owners wanting to buy the vehicle again.
The Chevrolet Trax has an average reliability rating but scored a decent 61 out of 100 overall from Consumer Reports. However, only 37% of its owners like the Trax enough to want to buy it again in the future.
Below that is the Fiat 500X. This crossover had only 36% of owners say they would buy it again. That’s not too surprising, though, because CR gave it an overall score of only 37.
The last one on the list is the Ford EcoSport. CR gave it an overall rating of 45, and most owners weren’t too pleased with it, either. Only 30% said they would consider purchasing it again.
Though the 2022 Nissan Rogue Sport earned a coveted recommendation from Consumer Reports, owners who bought previous models felt the SUV fell far short of expectations. So, keep that in mind if you’re considering a Rogue Sport for your next vehicle.
