A new entry-level Audi Q5 has arrived in Australia offering a vast driving range
Audi has launched a new entry-level Q5 variant called the 35 TDI, which is being pitched as one of the most fuel efficient SUVs in Australia.
Powered by a 2.0-litre turbo-diesel four-cylinder engine producing 120kW of power and 370Nm of torque, the Q5 35 TDI is mated to a seven-speed dual-clutch transmission driving only the front wheels – a first for the Q5 in Australia.
But it is the fuel efficiency of the Q5 35 TDI that Audi says is most impressive.
The Q5 35 TDI will be able to travel over 1400km on a single tank!
How efficient is the 35 TDI?
The Audi Q5 35 TDI consumes just 4.8L/100km on the combined ADR test cycle, so when you take into account its 70-litre fuel capacity, the Q5 35 TDI is capable of travelling a theoretical 1458km on one tank.
So how does the Q5 35 TDI achieve this? Using a 12-volt mild-hybrid system along with twin-dosing (the Volkswagen Group name for twin AdBlue injection) and idle-stop technology, Audi has been able to not only reduce tailpipe emissions but also make the 2.0-litre turbo-diesel as efficient as possible. The engine also meets the latest Euro 6d emissions regulations.
The 2.0-litre 35 TDI engine can get the Audi Q5 to 100km/h in nine seconds, which is 1.4 seconds slower than the TDI 40 engine also available, but that isn’t a huge difference considering the 40 TDI has the advantage of quattro all-wheel drive.

Specification of the new Audi Q5 35 TDI
On the exterior, the Audi Q5 35 TDI is fitted with 20-inch Audi Sport alloy wheels, LED headlights with LED DRLs, an electric tailgate, heated exterior mirrors and aluminium roof rails.
Inside, the entry-level Q5 is finished with leather upholstery, electric front seats with heating and four-way electric lumbar support, colour ambient lighting, a leather multi-function steering wheel and three-zone climate control.
For the tech lovers, standard fitment includes a 7.0-inch driver instrument display, a 10.1-inch centre touchscreen, integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and an eight-speaker sound system.

Safety in the Audi Q5 35 TDI includes AEB with pedestrian detection, Audi pre-sense rear and active lane-assist, lane-change warning, exit warning, rear cross-traffic alert, auto high-beam, Audi parking assistant, hill-descent control, tyre-pressure monitoring and eight airbags.
All new Audis sold in Australia from 1 January 2022 come standard with a five-year/unlimited-kilometre warranty. Audi also provides a 12-year warranty for bodywork against corrosion perforation for all new vehicles.
Five-year service plans are available for the Q5 range and will cost $3140 for that period of servicing.

The Audi Q5 35 TDI Limited Edition and Q5 Sport Limited Edition models (40 TDI quattro and 45 TFSI quattro) are now available from the Audi dealership network.
