The Nissan Sentra has always provided a unique take on the compact sedan compared to stalwarts like the Honda Civic and Toyota Corolla. Nissan redesigned the Sentra just a couple of years ago and gave it a bold new look inside and out in addition to a bigger and more powerful engine. Here’s a look at what we can expect for the 2023 model year.

While there’s no official word from Nissan on when the 2023 Sentra will show up at dealerships. However, we expect that it should be officially released by the third quarter of 2022. The ongoing chip shortage could cause a slow in production, so the new Sentra could come out in the last quarter of the year at the latest.

The official pricing for the 2023 Sentra is yet to be released, but we expect that Nissan will raise the increase its price due to inflation. In that case, the 2022 Sentra’s MSRP of $19,810 will likely increase to right around $20,000. That being the case, the top-trim Sentra SR Midnight Edition should increase to around $23,300. Despite any impending price increases, the Sentra still undercuts the competition from Honda and Toyota by thousands.
What’s new on the 2023 Nissan Sentra

Considering the 2023 Sentra will most likely be a carry-over model from the current iteration, we don’t expect any extensive changes. The redesign for the 2020 model year included a completely new look that included bold aesthetics that mimics its Altima and Maxima stablemates. Specifically, Nissan gave it the brand’s signature V-Motion front grille and LED headlights.
The chassis was also widened by a couple of inches and lowered for a more athletic stance. Under the hood, the biggest change came in the form of a naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four engine for the lower-trim models. That engine puts out 149 hp and 145 lb-ft of torque and gets up to 29 mpg in the city and 39 mpg on the highway, according to the EPA.
That all being said, Nissan may not change the Sentra too much for the new model year. If there are any changes, then they may be slight revisions to the aesthetics and possibly a special edition trim level.

Considering the 2023 Nissan Sentra will likely be carried over from the 2022 model year, it could be a good idea to buy the current version. Although the supply chain is still low, dealers are always looking to offload their current inventory, so you may be able to get a good deal as well.
In case the dealership inventories near you don’t have any 2022 Nissan Sentras in stock, or if you can wait, then we recommend waiting for the 2023 Sentra to come out. It might not have very many changes, but you’ll at least be driving around in a brand-new car.
