Updates to the petrol-powered Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross for 2023 have been detailed, following the brand’s reveal earlier this week of changes to the plug-in hybrid (PHEV).
First deliveries of the tweaked crossover begin from March 2023.
As with the PHEV, the mid-range Aspire gets some aesthetic tweaks, including gloss black on the front and rear skid plates, a “material black” finish for the grille and door mouldings, plus some silver highlights.
The Exceed also gains a hands-free power tailgate as standard and a light grey interior as an option, while the base ES gets rear parking sensors and revised steering wheel trim but drops from 18 to 16-inch alloy wheels.
LS Black Edition
The LS receives more standard equipment, including blind-spot monitoring, rear cross-traffic alert, an electrochromatic rear-view mirror, and a USB-C and USB-A outlet at the rear of the centre console.
Prices are unchanged on the ES, but up by between $250 and $1000 on other variants. Service pricing has also increased, with most capped-price visits up by $100 compared to 2022 models.
The latest special edition is called the LS Black Edition and, as the name suggests, it takes the updated LS and paints black the 18-inch alloy wheels, mirrors, and front and rear skid plates. It also misses out on roof rails.
It also builds on the LS with heated front seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, micro-suede and leather upholstery, black headlining and pillar trims, and grey stitching and dark silver garnishes.

Drivetrains
The 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross is powered by a turbocharged 1.5-litre four-cylinder engine producing 110kW of power at 5500rpm and 250Nm of torque at 2000-3500 rpm.
It’s mated with a continuously variable transmission and offered with either front- or all-wheel drive.
LS
Efficiency
The 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross uses 7.3L/100km on the combined cycle in front-wheel drive variants and 7.7L/100km on those with all-wheel drive. It runs on 91 RON regular unleaded fuel.
Front-wheel drive models have a 63L fuel tank and all-wheel drive models have a 60L fuel tank.
Dimensions
The 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross measures 4545mm long, 1805mm wide and 1685mm tall with a 2670mm wheelbase.
There’s 405L of cargo space, measured to the top of the second-row seatback. This expands to 1149L (1172L in AWD models) with the rear seats dropped, measured to the roof. Under the boot floor is a space-saver spare.
It has 180mm of ground clearance.
Kerb weight is between 1475kg and 1605kg depending on the variant.

Servicing and Warranty
The 2023 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross requires servicing every 12 months or 15,000km, whichever comes first. Mitsubishi offers ten years of capped-price servicing.

That’s a total of $4740 over 10 years, up $950 on the 2022 Eclipse Cross.
If you service your Eclipse Cross within the Mitsubishi dealer network, the five-year and 100,000km warranty is increased to 10 years and 200,000km.
Safety
When the Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross was tested by ANCAP in 2017, it received a rating of five stars.
All models received an adult occupant protection score of 97 per cent, child occupant protection score of 78 per cent, vulnerable road user protection score of 80 per cent and a safety assist score of 58 per cent.
All models come standard with autonomous emergency braking, a reversing camera and rear parking sensors.
LS and above gain blind-spot monitoring, lane-departure warning and rear cross-traffic alert, while the Aspire gains adaptive cruise control, front parking sensors and a surround-view camera and the Exceed features Mitsubishi’s Ultrasonic Misacceleration Mitigation System.
