The Audi e-tron GT has been on sale in the United States for nearly a year. The pure electric sports GT started reaching Audi dealerships in the U.S. in July 2021, and now a 2023 model year has been introduced with subtle styling upgrades and more standard features. The e-tron GT is a cousin to the Porsche Taycan, as it uses the same Porsche-developed J1 platform. There are three versions available in America: Premium Plus, Prestige, and the RS e-tron GT, all of which come with Quattro all-wheel drive as standard.

The Audi e-tron GT looks genuinely futuristic. Upfront, it gets Audi’s signature singleframe grille with honeycomb-patterned graphics, a pair of Matrix LED headlamps, and a large air-dam that channels air to cool the floor-mounted battery. The ‘Sportback’ rear and the sloping roofline are prominent elements from the side profile. At the rear, there’s a thick LED light bar connecting the LED taillamps and a blacked-out diffuser.
For 2023, the ‘Hekla grille’ from the 2022 model year is now replaced by a body-colored grille, which was previously a USD 350 add-on. Additional changes to the exterior include a second charging port above the passenger side fender and anti-theft wheel bolts. 20-inch all-season tires are now standard on the e-tron GT, while the Prestige trim can be specced with a 21-inch 10-spoke trapezoidal wheel design option, replacing the previous platinum gray finish wheels that were available for USD 2,000 extra.

That said, Audi has focused on the aerodynamics of the e-tron GT. For instance, the air intakes on the bumper improve airflow around the vehicle’s side and help cool the brakes. Controllable air inlets flank the headlights to improve aerodynamics. Moreover, the retractable rear spoiler sets itself in two different positions depending upon the speed to improve downforce.
Audi RS e-tron GT
The 2023 Audi RS e-tron GT gets the same upgrades as the non-RS models, with the addition of standard carbon atlas matte inlays. Customers can also spec the e-tron GT’s RS variant with a newly available Ceramic brake package with Anthracite calipers mounted within 21-inch five double-spoke concave module design wheels. The performance model will continue with bespoke kits like a carbon-fiber roof, surface coated disc brakes with orange calipers, and a carbon fiber and black optic exterior kit.

The Audi e-tron GT comes with a plethora of premium features as standard. It features leather-free seat surfaces with Dinamica microfibre upholstery, three-spoke flat-bottom steering wrapped in Alcantara, aluminum paddle-shifters, a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 10.1-inch MMI touchscreen infotainment system.
Those who prefer pure leather can purchase the Full Leather Interior Package which starts at USD 4,000. The package adds perforated Nappa leather upholstery, ventilated front seats with massage function, RS-spec front seats with 18-way power adjustability and 4-way lumbar support, and RS-badged heated steering. On the RS e-tron GT, the Dinamica headliner also gets added. The package also wraps select dashboard, door trim panels, and steering in leather.
For 2023, there are some feature upgrades. An integrated toll module in the rearview mirror and a Bang and Olufsen sound system with 3D audio come as standard. The e-tron GT will continue to offer the following standard features in the 2023 model year: ambient lighting, three-zone climate control, natural walnut wood inlays, heads-up display, and wireless charging, among other features.
The battery pack is mounted between the axles and has been designed with recesses near the rear footwell so that customers get adequate under-thigh support and are not required to sit in a knees-up position.
Specifications
Mechanically, the Audi e-tron GT remains unchanged for MY2023. The EV comes with Quattro AWD as standard, which means there’s one electric motor on each axle. Together, the electric motors generate 469 hp and 464 lb-ft. The overboost function with launch control increases the output to 522 hp and 472 lb-ft. The EV can sprint from 0-60 mph in 3.9 seconds (with overboost function), and it has a 152 mph top speed. The massive 93 kWh lithium-ion battery delivers an EPA-estimated range of 238 miles.

Those who think the standard specifications aren’t enough and aren’t bothered by the MSRP can go for the RS e-tron GT. The performance version gets the same dual-motor AWD set-up, but its powertrain produces 590 hp; 637 hp in boost mode. Torque output is rated at 612 lb-ft. The Audi RS e-tron GT can accelerate to 60 mph in just 3.1 seconds. The same 93 kWh battery powers its electric motors and the EPA range is slightly lower at 232 miles.
Both variants can attain a range of about 120 miles in 10 minutes of charging and approximately 180 miles in 22 minutes of charging, with the help of 270 kW DC public chargers. Customers are also offered free-of-cost 3-year DC fast charging at all the Electrify America charging stations. All variants of the Audi e-tron GT are available with rear-wheel steering with the Performance package. The system makes the wheels turn in the opposite direction up to speeds of 30 mph and in the same direction at speeds more than that, improving agility significantly.
The RS e-tron GT comes standard with e-torque vectoring plus, while the same can be added to the Premium Plus and Prestige trims with the Performance package that costs USD 6,000 extra. E-torque vectoring improves cornering performance by sending more torque to the wheel with the most axle load and grip. The credit of improving ride and handling also goes to the adaptive dual axle air suspension, a standard offering on the Audi e-tron GT.

Safety
The Audi e-tron GT comes with a raft of safety features. It gets illuminated seat buckles, a tire-pressure monitoring system, and a range of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS). When the vehicle senses a potential hazard upfront, Audi Pre-sense Front tightens the seat belts, closes all windows, and engages brake assist or autonomous emergency braking.
It also gets traffic sign recognition, 360-degree camera view, side assist with rear cross-traffic assist and vehicle exit warning, and Audi active lane assist with emergency assist. There’s also the Park assist plus, which can detect parking spots and park the vehicle autonomously using the radar and camera. The Park assist feature is not available in the states of New York and Vermont because of different regulations.

Audi of America sold 1,226 units of the e-tron in 2021. The first quarter of 2022 hasn’t been great for Audi e-tron sales. Only 572 models were sold in the first three months of 2022 in the U.S. The Porsche Taycan, its technical cousin, seems to be more popular in the U.S., with 1,925 units sold in Q1 2022.
