Mazda has pulled the wraps on the refreshed 2022 Mazda MX-5, and it debuts with a healthy suite of new features to keep the enthusiast's dream alive.
The ND generation of MX-5, the current generation, launched in 2016. In an effort to keep the MX-5 mainstream (at least, as much as possible for a two-seater roadster), Mazda has given the MX-5 some new colors, but perhaps most importantly, a new technology that improves the Miata's cornering.

[It] manages different vehicle systems to help the MX-5 Miata behave as a harmonious extension of the driver’s body without adding a single gram of weight.

This new technology is something Mazda calls Kinematic Posture Control (KPC). In essence, it's a computer that controls the already existing computers and sensors to trigger certain responses under hard cornering. For example, if you find yourself on a spirited drive on a bendy road, KPC will apply slight braking to the inner rear wheel, which basically suppresses body roll, keeps the rear wheels planted, and improves steering.
I should add that Mazda does all of this without adding any weight to the MX-5 whatsoever, so performance is solely improved with no drawbacks (on paper).
Besides that, Mazda has given future owners some new color choices for both the interior and exterior. For the exterior, you can now get Mazda's new Platinum Quartz Metallic paint. For the interior, you can get your leather in Terracotta Nappa leather.
Manual Transmission Changes

Contrary to the rest of the auto industry, the Mazda has made it more difficult to get an automatic transmission in the MX-5. That's not a typo either- you can only get an automatic on the highest, most luxurious trim of the MX-5: the Grand Touring.
The base Sport model and the sportier Club model are all manual-only now, with the Grand Touring model offering both a manual and an automatic. So you'll be happy to hear that the manual transmission is still very much alive!
Miata is Always the Answer

Besides that, Mazda has kept the Miata nice and simple. The 181 horsepower Skyactiv-G 2.0L four-banger continues to propel the Miata's rear wheels; though the MSRP did see an increase of $430, bringing the total cost of buying a 2022 Mazda Miata to $27,300.
The 2022 Mazda Miata will arrive in dealerships in winter of this year, so you'll be able to zip around corners in the latest and greatest Miata soon.
