As for driving dynamics, the 2020 Mazda2 is equipped with G-Vectoring Control Plus (GVC Plus). The original G-Vectoring Control, the first technology in the SKYACTIV-Vehicle Dynamics series, is the world’s first control system to vary engine torque in response to steering input in order to provide integrated control of lateral and longitudinal acceleration forces and optimize the vertical load on each wheel for smooth and efficient vehicle motion. What this essentially means is the vehicle’s body roll is controlled via the GVC software, providing a more stable and comfortable ride to the passengers.
The latest version of GVC Plus uses the brakes to add direct yaw moment control for further enhanced handling stability. As the driver steers out of a corner by returning the steering wheel to the center position, GVC Plus applies a light braking force to the outer wheels, providing a stabilizing moment that helps restore the vehicle to straight line running. The system realises consistently smooth transitions between yaw, roll and pitch even under high cornering forces, improving the vehicle’s ability to accurately track sudden steering inputs and crisply exit corners. In addition to improving handling in emergency collision avoidance manoeuvres, GVC Plus offers a reassuring feeling of control when changing lanes on the highway and when driving on slippery road surfaces.
Driving comfort has also been enhanced with a tuned suspension system for smoother vehicle movement and comfortable ride. New structured front seats that improve the driver’s sense of balance, enhancing the sense of unity with the car and making driving easier. The transmission has been tuned for smoother acceleration which minimises the head and body movements of passengers. By applying the human-centered development philosophy to all kinds of common driving situations, Mazda will continue to pursue the kind of driving joy that allows both the driver and his or her passengers to feel at one with the car.
Powering the 2020 MAZDA2 is a 1.5L Skyactiv-G petrol engine with 114hp @ 6,000 rpm and 149Nm of torque @ 4,000 rpm, paired with a Skyactiv-Drive 6-speed automatic transmission with Manual Shift mode.
All new Mazda vehicles registered from January 1, 2019 onwards will have 5-Years Manufacturer Warranty + 5-Years Free Maintenance (except Mazda BT-50) according to manufacturer’s standards inclusive of labour, parts and lubricants. Both Manufacturer Warranty and Free Maintenance have a coverage period of five years and a mileage limit of 100,000 km, whichever comes first.
