Ford has updated the local Ford Focus line-up which will arrive in Australia in late 2020, with an improved chassis set-up, along with technology and equipment upgrades focused on comfort and convenience. The changes also bring the demise of the Trend, ST-Line wagon and Titanium variants of the Focus.
The Focus range will now be spearheaded by the ST-Line hatch, the Active hatch and the sporty ST hatch.
“The Focus has a reputation as a driver’s car, so we are pleased to present a line-up that strongly reflects that,” said Kay Hart, President and CEO of Ford Australia and New Zealand. “We’ve made the ST-Line an even better drive with its suspension upgrades, while the Active clearly reflects the outdoor adventurous spirit that its name implies with added practicality, too.”
The upgraded Focus ST-Line hatch will see the introduction of Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), similar to the set-up seen in the current Focus ST-Line wagon. This should build on the Focus’ renowned sporting driving dynamics, whilst improving its ride comfort as well. The ST-Line will now also feature LED headlights.
The upgraded Focus Active features the introduction of LED headlights along with a new ESP mode designed to assist drivers when heading down slippery tracks off road.
The FordPass Connect modem is now on both ST-Line and Active. It allows users to receive software updates to the car over the internet as well as allowing owners to link their car with their smartphone. The updated Focus now also features improved AEB with Pedestrian Detection.
The upgraded Focus is available with two new colours – Race Red, as a standard colour – and Fantastic Red, a prestige optional extra.
