MG Motor India has further extended free charging for MG ZS EV customers till the end of June 2022. Also, new customers can also charge their MG ZS EV SUVs free of cost at public EV charging points run by Fortum.
Earlier, it was announced that MG Motor India will stop free fast charging for all MG ZS EV customers from the end of March 2022 onwards.
Though the free public charging is limited to CCS-type public chargers, it is worth mentioning that these type of chargers currently provide the least charging time. These chargers supply direct current (DC) and can charge MG ZS EV to 80 per cent battery capacity in just 60 minutes (50kW DC charger).
Speaking about Fortum, the company provides 50kW and 60kW DC chargers in cities such as Delhi-NCR, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Mohali, Pune, and Surat.
Recently, the bookings for the newly launched 2022 MG ZS EV had been closed as the electric vehicle was sold out for 2022.
This is not only good news for MG Motor India but the entire automotive industry as it shows the growing trust of consumers in electric cars. Also, the rising fuel prices may have acted as a catalyst for the success of the 2022 MG ZS EV in India as the electric SUV received an overwhelming response from Indian consumers.
Speaking about the new 2022 MG ZS EV, prices for the updated MG ZS EV SUV starts from Rs 21.99 Lakh (ex-showroom, India). However, the base ‘Excite’ variant will be only made available from July 2022.
This means the top-end ‘Exclusive’ variant is the only variant of the new MG ZS EV that is currently on sale and it is priced at Rs 25.88 Lakh (ex-showroom, India).
The new MG ZS EV also sports an updated powertrain system with a larger 50.3kWh battery pack and a more powerful 173.6bhp electric motor with 280Nm of peak torque. Thanks to this uprated powertrain, the new 2022 MG ZS EV can reach 100km/h from a standstill in just 8.5 seconds and deliver a maximum range of 461kms on a fully charged battery pack.
According to MG Motor, the people who previously owned and drove the MG ZS EV SUV have saved approximately 70 lakh kilograms of carbon dioxide by choosing an EV over an internal combustion vehicle.
Even though 70 Lakh kilograms of carbon dioxide seem like a large number, to understand the impact and putting into perspective, the amount of carbon dioxide saved by MG ZS EV customers is equivalent to planting 42,000 trees.
The Interior of the new MG ZS EV SUV has also been updated thoroughly. However, the most noticeable change in the interior is the all-new 10.1-inch infotainment unit with added features list.
The new updated MG ZS EV also comes with attractive features such as a 7-inch digital instrument cluster, a large panoramic sunroof, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, 6-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, an electronic parking brake with auto hold, heated ORVMs, cruise control, drive modes, and many more.
Also, the new MG ZS EV also features MG’s Car-as-a-Platform (CAAP) vision. This service includes additional services and subscription packages such as Park+, Jio, MapMyIndia, and Shortpedia.
In terms of safety, the new 2022 MG ZS EV comes equipped with top-tier safety systems such as 6 airbags, ABS, EBD, Brake Assist, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS), Hill Start Assist, Hill Descent Control, Rear Disc Brakes, and a few more.
