Prakhar Bindal, an owner of the MG Gloster, a flagship SUV of the British brand owned by Chinese automaker SAIC, recently took to Twitter and shared his ordeal. According to Mr. Bindal, his MG Gloster luxury SUV – serviced just 10 days ago and with no external fitments – burned down to a crisp in the middle of Delhi roads. Mr. Bindal alleges that he’s been ‘seeking justice’ from MG Motor for the past 10 days and that the automaker has been unresponsive so far.

Apart from social media handles of MG Motor, Mr Bindal has also tagged the Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, the Transport Ministry and the Prime Minister’s Office, aiming for quick resolution. While cars catching fire is not new, it’s unusual for a new car that’s been serviced just 10 days ago to burn to a crisp.
Also, cars without external modifications or extra fitments burning down is a cause of concern as this could indicate a manufacturing defect or an engineering design issue. We sincerely hope that MG Motor quickly gets to the bottom of this matter and resolves this issue to the satisfaction of the aggrieved customer Mr. Prakhar Bindal.
