One of Jeeps lesser know models fail d to make a splash in SA but for those who do have one, we can help with your maintenance. We show you how to replace the car battery on a Jeep Patriot.
Patriotic Power
The Jeep Patriot was one of the brand’s lesser-known endeavors, being overshadowed by the Compass, Cherokee and Wrangler. It quietly disappeared from sale but you can still find them on used car lots if you were so inclined.
Car batteries need to be replaced every 3-5 years and it is no different in the case of the Patriot. This isn’t a problem as we can show you how to replace the battery quickly and easily in just a few minutes.
You will need:
- Replacement battery of correct frame size and amperage
- 10mm wrench
- 13mm socket with extension and driver
Let’s get it done
1. Open the bonnet
2. Locate the air intake ram
3. Remove the ram by turning the two small hold down tabs anti-clockwise
4. Using the 10mm wrench, remove the positive terminal
5. Use the 10mm to remove the negative terminal
6. Use the 13mm socket and driver to remove the hold down bolt and bracket
7. Replace the battery
8. Assemble in reverse order
Disconnecting the battery will erase the information in the onboard computer and infotainment. Use a battery saver to prevent this from happening.
