Are you a major Chevrolet Corvette fans who also loves boating? Well have we found the boat for you!
Car brands love a collaboration, whether that be with fashion labels, appliances or even LEGO. But its when the collab plays to both brands’ strengths and produces a product so unique, outrageous yet so unique, you know that they’re onto a winner.
This 2008 Malibu Corvette Limited Edition boat which has come up for sale on our sister site boatsales is an example of this collab magic.
In the late 1970s, American boat maker Malibu teamed up with Chevrolet to create the Corvette of recreational boats. The result was the Maibu Corvette, a limited-edition model that was originally based on the C4 Corvette
Powered by a marinised version of the LT1 small block V8 that was in the road-going car, buyers snapped them up fast. That was enough for Malibu to have another crack at the formula in 2008 with the launch of a boat based on the new C6 Corvette, the Malibu Corvette Limited Edition Coupe.
The boat borrowed a lot from the road car, using the same LS1 V8 engine, the same seats, steering wheel and even the same dashboard. An even better version was based on the more powerful Chevrolet Corvette Z06 – the Malibu Corvette Limited Edition Sport-V which had the 7.0-litre LS7 V8.
Plenty more of the iconic Chevrolet Corvette styling cues found their way onboard including the frenched twin tail lights and quad exhausts. Only 50 were made worldwide.
At the time, it was regarded as one of the world’s fastest inboard production ski boats, capable of a straight-line speed of 65mph (104 km/h).
This particular boat for sale on boatsales is number 19 of 25 Malibu Corvette Limited Edition Sport-Vs made, and is currently for sale in Victoria. It even sits on the custom Corvette trailer that features rims that belonged to the road-going car.
The boat in question features an eight-speaker Rockford Fosgate audio system, keyless ignition, a fly-by-wire throttle system, heated seats, car-like electric side windows, heaps of Corvette logos including Z06 ones, and even a red-lit see-through engine hatch.
On board, there’s enough space for you and seven of your friends. This 2008 Malibu Corvette Limited Edition will set you back $89,500.
