The large American luxury SUV from Jeep makes a comeback to Singapore, with prices starting from S$373k
SINGAPORE
The fifth-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, first launched internationally in 2022, has arrived in Singapore. It’s the American brand’s most upscale product and an alternative to cars like the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Volkswagen Touareg.
While American spec Grand Cherokees get the 3.6-litre V6 and 5.7-litre V8 petrol engines, Singapore launch editions get the more sensible 2.0-litre turbo four-cylinder engine with a power output of 268 horsepower and an eight-speed automatic gearbox. The launch process is S$372,888 with COE.
There’s no electrification in the drivetrain, but the car does feature Jeep’s Selec Terrain traction management system with switchable 4X4 drive modes, giving it true off road ability in a way that only Jeep and Land Rover seem to know how to do well from their long history of building off road cars.
It’s a properly posh SUV with luxury features including acoustically treated glass that reduces road noise by a large amount. Other visible features that you’ll find in the car include a 10.1-inch centre display touchscreen and a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, along with a heads-up display for the driver. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto is also standard fit.
Overhead there’s a two-panel panoramic sunroof for an expansive view, and the five seats in the car are upholstered with capri leather. There is no seven-seat option available for Singapore yet, though the three-row Jeep Grand Cherokee L with an extended wheelbase and larger 3.6-litre V6 has been confirmed to be arriving in Singapore in the later half of 2023.
The car comes standard with a full suite of active safety systems onboard including full-speed forward collision warning plus, adaptive cruise control with stop and go, blind spot and cross path detection, active lane management, and intersection collision assist system.
The Jeep Grand Cherokee is being retailed at Singapore’s official Jeep dealership, Capella Auto, which is really just the previously named Chrysler Jeep Automotive of Singapore rebadged. Capella Auto is also the official dealership for Alfa Romeo cars in Singapore.
