eep is an Iconic brand that is famous for its offload capability. When Jeep became a part of Italian automaker Fiat they decided to head in a more “suburban” direction which saw the brand release soft offroaders like the Compass and the Patriot. We take a look at what you can get under the Patriot derivative on AutoTrader
Patriotic Attempt
Released globally in 2006 and arriving locally in 2007, the Jeep Patriot was meant to be the Jeep that everyone could own. Sporting Jeep styling and a true 4×4 system the Patriot was supposed to be an entry point for the American brand.
There were originally three model derivatives on offer, the Sport, the Latitude, and the Limited, with the Sport being the cheapest entry-level model and the Limited being the top spec. All vehicles were powered by a 2.4l 4-cylinder engine that produced 125kW and 220Nm. The engine was mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission and 4×4 system.
All for naught
The Patriots 11 year run came to an end in 2017 as the model range and marque were discontinued from sale. Despite Jeep’s lofty ambitions the Patriot never truly reached the success of the Wrangler and Cherokee models, suffering from a host of mechanical and service problems. The model itself never sold in large numbers and coupled with the maintenance problems there are not that many available in the used car space.
