1963 Corvette Unearthed After 2 Decades Hidden Away
Some classic Corvettes make it out of multi-decade hibernations in better shape than others. This 1963 Corvette seems to be in need of some R&R.
Unique Find
There is no shortage of unique finds on eBay on any given day. But it’s not often we come across a reportedly all-original 1963 Corvette Split Window Coupe. Much less one that has been kept away in storage for over 20 years. It would be safe to assume, though, that the storage didn’t quite manage to keep the Corvette safe from the elements.

1963
1963 was the first model year for the second generation of America’s sports car. The transition from the C1 iteration to this model was quite a shocking departure, arguably even more profound than the introduction of the mid-engine Corvette for 2020. It was in ’63 that the world first laid eyes on a coupe Corvette, and when the legend of the ‘Split-Window’ was born.
Primed for Restoration
Chevrolet would have had no way of knowing that, decades later, the one-year split window model would go on to become an extremely popular collectible. And an all-original example like this, with desirable options is sure to grab the attention of enthusiasts, who’d be willing to pay top dollar for a shot at a restoration project.
Intact
The seller indicates that the birdcage appears to be in solid shape. The only missing part, according to the listing, is the trim around one of the windows.
Original Powertrain
The original numbers-matching motor is reportedly in place. The odometer shows 56,352 miles. The seller notes, though, that the title indicates “non-actual mileage,” due to the car’s age. The automatic transmission is also believed to be original, pending verification. The condition of the power plant is currently unknown, as the seller hasn’t tried to turn the car on.
Ideal Candidate?
The authenticity of this Corvette makes it an enticing restoration candidate. With the extent of the rust and weather damage being unknown, though, potential buyers are advised to run a thorough inspection.
