It started off with a very simple question: can a cross-country trip be completed in an electric vehicle (EV)?
The short answer is yes, as a number of Singaporean motoring journalists found out that it is possible to cover the 350-km journey with the e-tron line-up.
After a 2-year-long lockdown, Audi Singapore recently hosted a media drive for Singaporean motoring journalists from Singapore to Malaysia in their new e-tron line-up, including the Audi e-tron Sportback, e-tron GT, and RS e-tron GT.
The two-day excursion aimed to tackle a common question from EV owners: what should I do if my car runs out of range before I reach my destination? With more than 350 km and 4 hours to conquer the journey up north, Audi Singapore proved that with some proper planning, it’s possible to drive the e-trons for long distances and across countries.
Once the first batch of motoring journalists took the e-tron range of models from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, they took a flight back to the island while another batch of journos flew in and drove the cars back to Singapore. And yes, the e-trons required charging at Kuala Lumpur before setting off.
As various governments and the automotive industry continue to invest in EV-related innovations and charging infrastructure, this road trip has proven that Audi Singapore is on the right path towards making widespread sustainable mobility a reality.
Prices of the e-tron range in Singapore start from SGD 368,461 (~RM 1.2 mil) for the e-tron Sportback, while the e-tron GT is priced from SGD 532,840 (~RM 1.7 mil). The RS e-tron GT is priced from SGD 680,940 (~RM 2.2 mil).
