The disappointment about a lack of new Subaru WRX STI still hasn’t quite subsided for many fans, but there’s at least a glimmer of good news from Subaru with the reveal of a series of STI styling parts.
Already confirmed for availability and pricing in Australia, the list of parts covers a spread of styling, comfort, and convenience, with the headline components being STI-styled body kits available for both the sedan and wagon versions of the Subaru WRX.
Available in black, or a recently added red at different price points, the kit includes a front under-bumper spoiler, side skirts, and more similar trim for the rear bumper, as well as an STI boot spoiler.
In black, as fitted to the car, Subaru quotes a $4126 RRP, or for the red it’s a little pricier at $4206.
If you were to fit that to a new 2022 WRX with the larger 2.4-litre boxer four and a manual gearbox for optimal STI cosplay, you’d be set back $44,990 for the car alone, with a total of $49,196 for the car with a red styling kit.
A more subtle pack with a front and rear bumper skirt, a strake down the side of the car, and a boot spoiler is available in black or silver for $2489 or $2522 respectively.
For the wagon variant, similar packages are available but with ‘roof end spoilers’ instead of bootlid spoilers, ranging in price from $4037 down to a more subtle pack for $3244. For the wagon, red trim isn’t listed in any of the packages.
Subaru has also introduced a new sport grille available for either variant for $757, while a set of 18-inch STI alloys available in black, gun metal, or silver will set buyers back $3104. A different wheel style with both black and silver spokes is available for $3453. Add that to the red-styled manual WRX we mentioned earlier and your WRX is quickly approaching $54,000.
For the sedan, cherry red STI mirror caps are available, while the wagon gets the option of roof crossbars or a roof luggage box.
While none of the new additions to the Subaru WRX accessories range affect performance, aftermarket brands have a strong history of providing ways to make your WRX faster… so if you wanted to build your own STI, these accessories from Subaru could at least help make it look more genuine.
The WRX range starts at $40,990 for a 2.0-litre auto sedan, and tops out at $57,990 for a TS wagon, with a 2.4-litre engine and an auto gearbox.
