The 2022 Subaru BRZ took on a fresh new look and big improvements from its predecessor designs. According to Cars.com, Subaru introduced a more modern exterior design to start, focusing more on aerodynamic functionality.
This sports car is about one inch longer and one inch lower than the 2021 model, too. The most drastic additions to the BRZ’s look are the massive air intakes situated under the squinty headlights. You’ll also notice more profound fenders, functioning side vents, and a “double bubble” roofline design.
There are big improvements inside the 2022 Subaru BRZ, too. New this year, Subaru introduced the seven-inch digital gauge cluster and a programmable meter to measure water temps, G-force, and amperage.
Big under-the-hood improvements came in 2022 in the form of a more powerful naturally aspirated 2.4-liter four-cylinder. This engine brings a more than 20-horsepower boost from last year’s model, and this new engine cranks 228 horses with a redline at 7,000 rpm, with a 15% increase in torque.

Breaking down the sales by month, it’s clear that the 2022 model is a vast improvement over the 2021 BRZ. When comparing January 2021 to January 2022, for example, sales measured at 163 and 331 sold, respectively. February 2022 saw 349 sales, a surge from February 2021’s 179 units sold. And this increasing sales trend continues, indicating Subaru’s design team got it right.
