The Ferrari SF90 is a significant car for the Prancing Horse as it represents the marque’s first plug-in hybrid model. While the car’s electrification is a sign of the times, the new technology also brings with it some performance advantages – something aptly demonstrated by this video.
This new Ferrari is only just stepping into the spotlight, and so this clip is one of our first opportunities to see the SF90 let loose independent of the Italian firm. Motorsport Magazine’s YouTube channel posted a dramatic clip of the car launching from a standstill and running to 138mph. It doesn’t take long!
While this video clip is far from scientific, we can see that the car hits an indicated 62mph in less than three seconds – 120mph flashes by in less than seven seconds. These estimations match up to the car’s official figures of 0-62mph in 2.5 seconds, and 0-125mph in 6.7 seconds.
The Ferrari SF90 is powered by a turbocharged 3.9-litre V8 engine and a trio of electric motors. A colossal 770bhp and 590lb-ft of torque is at the driver’s disposal, numbers that make it the most powerful Ferrari in the Italian marque’s history. The SF90 performance package is one that lapped Ferrari’s test track faster than a LaFerrari.
Ferrari’s latest supercar might cost the thick-end of £380,000 but there is no denying the car’s sheer speed. While traditionalists might not like Ferrari’s electrified future, it’s clear that the Prancing Horse is already taking full advantage of this new direction.
