The V6 powered 296 GTB would make the Dino proud.
Just because the latest Ferrari 296 GTB doesn’t employ the sonorous naturally aspirated soundtrack of a Maranello-based V8 or V12 doesn’t make it a slouch. In fact, if this video is anything to go by, the hybrid model is the complete opposite!

A video (watch below) of an Italian registered Ferrari 296 GTB shows the frighteningly quick acceleration that the Scarlet Red Prancing Horse beholds. After a quick walkaround and peek into the cabin, the driver begins a sprint that has the digital cluster displaying an ever-evolving speedometer all the way up to 290 km/h before decelerating back down to civilised speeds.
After a half century hiatus from anything to do with six-cylinders for the commercial market, their endeavours during the Formula 1 hybrid era have provided a fruitful powertrain that combines a 122 kW electric motor alongside a behemoth 488 kW 3-litre V6. The total output of the Ferrari 296 GTB is stated at a whopping 618 kW and its 720 N.m enable it to hit 100 km/h from a standstill in a brisk 2.9 seconds and 200 km/h in 7.3 seconds. Based on the video, the claimed figures seem accurate!

Despite its forced induction assistance, the model still revs all the way up to 8,500 rpm as is shown during the sprint video. Reports on a convertible model which will potentially have the name 296 GTS are months away from being revealed and will enable drivers to better hear the redline from the cockpit.

The most important news from the company will be that of the Purosangue SUV of “Ferrari Utility Vehicle” as it is internally called. Despite a production ready looking model being leaked, we still have no conclusive information on the powertrain the novel creation will employ. While a V8 or V12 will mediate the so-called sacrilege for many purists, it may in fact employ the same V6 powertrain from the Ferrari 296 GTB.
