A busy track day meant the latest BMW M2 had some traffic to fly past.
It seems to be the testing season in Europe, with warmer weather and more favourable track conditions we can understand why. BMW have been the latest to take one of their high performance models to the Nürburgring after the 2023 BMW M2 was spotted along with the M4 CSL.
A busy track day meant the latest BMW M2 had some traffic to fly past.
Both models were fairly well concealed beneath a layer of camouflage so we don’t have a conclusive understanding of exterior aesthetics however we know that both models are nearing the end of their development stages so the overall form we are seeing here shouldn’t change all that much.
They weren’t the only to take to the busy Nürburgring track since this session was filmed during an Industry Pool which means we see some Porsche and Mercedes-Benz sharing the infamous tarmac with the Bavarian coupes. Neither of them seem to mind this since there aren’t too many cars that attended on the day that were able to match the performance from BMW. The 2023 BMW M2 is seen being slammed around the Green Hell in a variety of different corners with the sonorous M4 3.0-litre engine making some pleasant noises, despite being detuned. Speaking of which, the M4 CSL, equipped with more aggressive aero and revised exhaust mounting locations looks set to be incredibly capable of all out lap times.Back to the M2’s powertrain, it is still unconfirmed but the in-line 6 is rumoured to be capable of a healthy 335 kW which should make it more powerful than the outgoing M2 CSL. It will be offered with a sole rear-wheel drive configuration while certain markets will even receive a third pedal with a six-speed manual gearbox. We will probably only get an eight-speed automatic transmission.
On the exterior front, the new 2023 BMW M2 fortunately has been spared split headlights and obnoxiously large kidney grilles. While the standard model may still not produce the desirable looks that can snap necks, the beefier arches and quad pipe exhaust system make the compact coupe seem intimidating for anything brave enough to take it on!
