The Japanese auto-giant currently has a full order book and customers might have to wait nearly half a decade for their 300 Series LC
Toyota has refused to reveal the reason behind such a long waiting period and delay on its latest 300 Series Land Cruiser or LC 300. However, it has denied that the delay has to do anything with the global semiconductor shortage.
“The delivery time for ordering from now on may be about 4 years. We will do our utmost to shorten the delivery time of our customers, and we appreciate your understanding.”
In a message, Toyota publicaly apologised by saying that the Land Cruiser has been well-received in Japan and around the world and its expected delivery time will take much longer than expected after receiving an order. Toyota expects that deliveries can take up to four years and the brand will do utmost to bring shorten the waiting period.
All-new Land Cruiser came out last year
The manufacturer has received an overwhelming demand for the new SUV
Toyota revealed the all-new Land Cruiser in the International markets last year. The all-new Toyota Land Cruiser retains the boxy design but it has evolved overall. The new Land Cruiser is based on a new GA-F platform as well, which makes it about 200 kg lighter.
“We sincerely apologize for the fact that Land Cruiser has been very well received not only in Japan but also around the world, and it is expected that it will take a long time to deliver it after receiving an order.”
Toyota says that the delay is not because of the global shortage in semiconductors
Toyota powers the new Land Cruiser LC300 with a new 3.5-litre, twin-turbocharged, V6 petrol engine that generates a maximum power of 409 PS and peak torque of 650 Nm. There is a 10-speed automatic transmission available with the SUV.
There is a more 3.3-litre diesel engine that generates a maximum power of 305 PS and peak torque of 700 Nm. The cabin is also completely overhauled with the new 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a heads-up display as well.
Toyota has discontinued the SUV in the US
It even comes in a more off-road friendly flavour
Due to poor demand in the U.S. market, Toyota discontinued the Land Cruiser after 60 years. However, according to the manufacturer, the demand for the all-new model is so high elsewhere that it will take years to complete the orders.
According to BBC, Toyota claims that the delay is not related to the current semiconductor shortage or supply chain issue that many other manufacturers are facing.
It is quite possible that Toyota did not expect the demand for the Land Cruiser to go through the roof after the arrival of the all-new model. Toyota is also slowing down the production in 11 plants in Japan due to the rise in COVID-19 infections among its workers and suppliers.

While the waiting period of the XUV700 has also crossed 12 months mark and is rising. Mahindra has, however, confirmed that the delay is due to the shortage in the semiconductors.
