Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus MT and Virtus GT Edge revealed. The Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus MT is the manual top-spec variant of the Virtus sedan for the Indian market while the GT Edge adds more styling points to the DSG variant.
The new GT Plus MT variant of the VW Virtus switches out the 7-speed DSG twin-clutch gearbox for a 6-speed manual transmission that continues to send power to the front wheels.
Speaking about power, the Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus MT continues to be powered by a 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine that develops 147.5bhp and 250Nm of peak torque.
The Volkswagen Virtus GT Plus Manual variant continues to ride on 16-inch alloy wheels finished in black and shod with 205/55 R16 tyres. Other design features include red brake callipers and the GT front grille.
The VW Virtus GT Plus MT is offered in dual-tone paint schemes all of which feature a Carbon Steel Grey roof. The launch of the new sedan coincided with the reveal of a new paint colour called Virtus Deep Black.
The interior of the Virtus GT Plus MT is offered in two decor themes – Rave Glossy and Dark Red Glossy. Other features on the inside include a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, an 8-inch digital driver’s cockpit, ventilated front seats and an electric sunroof.
Volkswagen also introduced another variant of the Virtus at its Annual Brand Conference event in Kochi in the form of the GT Edge. The Virtus GT Edge is based on the GT Plus (automatic variant) and features a Lava Blue paint job.
The GT Edge features GT badging on the front and rear bumpers and the front fenders. Also seen are red brake callipers, 16-inch ‘Razor’ alloy wheels and aluminium pedals and red contrast stitching for the leatherette upholstered seats.
Bookings for the GT Plus Manual and GT Edge variants will start in mid-May and deliveries will start in June.
Volkswagen’s two new Virtus models cater to two different kinds of customers. Those looking to stick with the DSG but wanting a bit more style can opt for the Edge. Those looking for a bit more control can opt for the new GT Plus Manual version of the Volkswagen Virtus
