One of the few Squarebacks to survive engine overheating and corrosion, still driving in Colorado.

Even now, 46 years after the final new Volkswagen Type 1 Beetles were sold in the United States (convertible sales continued here through 1979), you still see lots of the beloved Bugs on American streets.
Not so with the Käfer’s wagon cousin, the Type 3 Squareback; not nearly as many of these air-cooled wagons were sold, and they tended to cook their engines on hot days at American highway speeds (or just rust into nothingness).
This battered Squareback still gets plenty of year-round daily driving in Denver, though, and I have the photographic proof.
