Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus MT and Taigun GT Edge were revealed at the Annual Brand Conference in Kochi, Kerala. Volkswagen also introduced two new concepts based on the Taigun dubbed ‘Sport’ & ‘Trail’.
Bookings for the Taigun GT Plus Manual and the GT Edge will begin in May with deliveries starting the following month. Details about if the Sport & Trail versions of the Taigun will enter production have not been revealed.
The new Volkswagen Taigun GT Plus MT adds a manual gearbox to the top-spec version of VW’s premium compact hatchback which was earlier only offered with the DSG twin-clutch box.
The 1.5-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder delivers 147.5bhp and 250Nm of torque and comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission that sends power to the front wheels.
The Taigun GT Edge variant of VW’s compact SUV is offered in an exclusive colour option – Deep Black Pearl. The SUV rides on 17-inch ‘Manila’ alloy wheels which sport a dual-tone finish.
Other features on the Taigun GT Edge include GT badging on the front and rear as well as the fenders. There is Red in quite a few places with the front brake callipers, ambient lighting and Digital cockpit all featuring the colour.
The Taigun GT Edge also sports a leather-wrapped steering wheel, ventilated seats, an electric sunroof and a rear wiper and defogger.
The Sport & Trail concepts based on the Taigun feature extra design features but don’t seem to be too different from the regular SUV to make much of a difference.

Thoughts About The New VW Taigun Variants
The new Taigun variants do the same job as the ones for the Virtus with the GT Plus MT variant adding a manual gearbox and the Edge bringing in more design flair. The two concepts look to be adding a few more design cues as well.
