KUALA LUMPUR: Volkswagen Malaysia connected with fashion enthusiasts by collaborating with home-grown couturier Alia Bastamam during the Kuala Lumpur Fashion Week Ready to Wear 2015 (KLFW RTW 2015).
The fashion show was held at the centre court of up-market Pavilion shopping mall in Kuala Lumpur.
According to the German carmaker, its collaboration fits will with its brand DNA that’s known for having a timeless design and good performance.
Furthermore, the company also provided a sneak peak of its upcoming Volkswagen Beetle Club in Habanero Orange and is being displayed at the mall’s entrance through the course of the KL Fashion Week.
During the night of glitz and glamour, Alia presented her Spring/Summer 2016 collection with a focus on light and bright Resort-like designs and departing away from her previous ultra-glamour designs with luxurious fabrics and embellishments.
“Fresh and hopeful are what I want this collection to be. I want to bring back that ease and comfort for my clients because that’s why I came into this industry in the first place – to design and create pieces that I would want to wear myself,” said Alia.
Her latest collection involves pleated fabrics combined with pastel shades of butter and lilac that gives rise to the loose silhouettes with attention paid to the string details – all of which results in a slight bohemian tone.
To go along with Alia’s latest collection were shoes, which was especially designed for the show by Lewre Bespoke.
Also in the spot-light was Thomas Wee’s fashion collection that focussed on a black and white oriental theme which involved fashion cues of the past and nicely integrated with a modern twist.
Wee’s collection was more of a serious approach in his collection over Alia’s playfully free and relaxed nature.
“We are very happy to be the Official Car Sponsor this year and celebrate our debut, by showcasing our iconic designs with the Volkswagen Beetle, Golf R, and CC,” said Volkswagen Group Malaysia marketing director Martina Berg.
