Volkswagen has launched an exclusive new trim line for the Arteon that aims to inject a little aggression into the four-door coupe. The R-Line Edition will be limited to just 1,000 examples, with prices starting from £36,850.
The standard Arteon is by no means a dull-looking machine, but that hasn’t stopped VW from trying to give it a bit more of a sporty edge. With the R-Line Edition, you’ll get Moonstone grey with contrasting gloss black highlights on the roof, wing mirrors and grille as standard, along with 20-inch black wheels. At the back is a small lip spoiler – painted in black – mounted on the boot lid, while privacy glass on the rear windows is also included.
The Arteon comes with a decent tech upgrade, too. The R-Line Edition comes keyless entry, a top-down camera view of the car when parking, driverless parking and an autonomous blind spot warning system thrown in at no extra cost. There are some driver-focused features, too, including Dynamic Chassis Control with adaptive dampers and selectable driver modes.
That all equates to a saving of around £3,930, compared to adding all those features as optional extras onto a standard Arteon R-Line. It’s the closest you’ll get to a fully-blown R version of the Arteon too, though it’s 268bhp power output in range-topping petrol form is still 28bhp down on the Golf R.
