Looks like SmartTag and RFID are not the only systems with reliability issues, a video uploaded on Facebook group DashCam Owners Malaysia also showed that even the Touch ‘n Go (TnG) lanes have the same issue of the gantry closing prematurely before the car can exit the toll booth.
According to the post, the incident happened along the North-South Highway’s northbound exit to Tanjung Malim. The owner of the dashcam could be seen stopping a respectable distance away from the car in front before scanning his or her TnG card.
However, the gantry could be seen closing before the owner of the dashcam could exit the toll booth causing the dashcam owner to crash into the gantry.
What followed after the crash was a frustrating merry-go-round of what the owner had to do to claim the damages caused.
First, Plus employees told the owner to make a claim from the highway authority’s website. When the owner had tried making a claim on the website, he or she discovered that there is also a need for a police report.
After attempting to make a police report, however, the owner was informed that as the incident had happened in Tanjung Malim, the case would be passed over to the Tanjung Malim police district to handle.

According to the post, this would mean multiple trips down to Tanjung Malim for questioning when the dashcam owner lives in Penang. At this point, the owner claims to have given up and would rather pay for the damages on his or her car with their own money.
Social media users began sharing their own experiences when it comes to making a claim from Plus Highway, one social media user commented that he was charged RM 52 by mistake however it has been 5 to 6 years since the incident and Plus has not refunded him the amount.
Meanwhile, another social media user had recommended making a claim at the comsumer tribunal to make sure Plus Highway takes responsibility for the incident.
