2022 Mercedes-AMG S63e: What is it?
If you’re after a high-tech luxury limo, but occasionally need to get a move on, then an S63 AMG has been something of a default choice. Now based on the latest S-Class, the S63e is set to deliver its incredible performance via hybrid power for the first time.
2022 Mercedes-AMG S63e: What is it powered by?
It is expected that the largest AMG model will follow the same template set out by the AMG GT 4-Door Coupe, in that its twin-turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine will be supplemented with an electric motor. The new S63e will be a plug-in hybrid with around 700bhp, but there is also the possibility of a more potent S73e with closer to 800bhp.
The electric motor in each contributes a noteworthy 201bhp in the GT73e, and so it is more than likely the mooted S73e would do the same. The lesser S63e electric motor is said to offer some 130bhp+.
2022 Mercedes-AMG S63e: When will it be on sale?
Considering the advanced stage of testing this hardly disguised prototype is in, we’d expect a Mercedes-AMG S63e announcement in the coming months, with the car reaching customers before the end of 2021.
2022 Mercedes-AMG S63e: How much will it cost
The current Mercedes-AMG S63 set you back around £125,000 before it went off sale. Considering the new hybrid technology the S63e brings to the table, not to mention all of the opulence found in the all-new S-Class, we’d estimate the new car to cost around £135,000.
