Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia (MMM), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Malaysia has announced the appointment of Mr. Tomoyuki Shinnishi as Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company effective 28 October 2016.
Mr. Shinnishi joined Mitsubishi Corporation, Tokyo in 1997 and has held a wide range of leadership positions in the company, with close to 20 years of experience in the automotive industry.
Between 2001 and 2008, Mr. Shinnishi was posted to PT. Krama Yudha Tiga Belian Motors (KTB), the official distributor of Mitsubishi Motors vehicles in Indonesia. Mr. Shinnishi was the advisor of Production and Engineering there before taking over the position of the Unit Head of Sales and Marketing.
From 2008 onwards, Mr. Shinnishi served as the Manager of Motor Vehicle ASEAN and South West Asia Department in Mitsubishi Corporation. In 2012, he moved to Mitsubishi Motors Corporation in Tokyo where he was the Manager of Russia & Alliance Office and took charge of the Sales and Marketing for Mitsubishi Motors’ Russian market.
“With Shinnishi’s strong automotive experience, passion and commitment towards Mitsubishi Motors, we believe he will continue to drive the Mitsubishi Motors brand forward in Malaysia,” said Tan Sri Marzuki bin Mohd Noor, Chairman of the Board for MMM.

Mr. Shinnishi succeeds Mr. Yang Won-Chul who will report back to Mitsubishi Corporation, Tokyo at the same time. During his tenure in Malaysia, Mr. Yang oversaw the launch of the all-new Triton pick-up, all-new Outlander SUV as well as drove the company to achieve the feat of surpassing 100,000 units of vehicle sales in Malaysia.
In taking over, Mr. Shinnishi aims to continue looking for new and innovative and competitive products for Malaysia.
MMM is currently represented by 55 showrooms (of which 47 are 3S Centers) and 53 service outlets throughout Malaysia. In East Malaysia, MMM is represented by 12 showrooms (6 each in Sarawak and Sabah).
Of its product offerings, the ASX 2WD and 4WD compact SUV is locally assembled in Malaysia while the other Mitsubishi models are imported CBU (Completely Built-Up) from Thailand (Attrage compact sedan, Pajero Sport SUV & Triton pick-ups) as well as Japan (Outlander SUV & Lancer sedan).
