Land Rover has revealed full pricing and features for its new long-wheelbase Defender 130, which can be configured with up to eight seats.
The Defender 130 joins the existing lineup consisting of the four-door 110 and two-door 90, bringing extra unique features, like a new navigation suite, four-zone climate functions, as well as a new exterior colour and interior themes. It can be chosen in either five-seat or eight-seat form.
The wheelbase of the Defender 130 sits 340mm longer at the rear, bringing the large SUV to a total length of 5358mm, granting far greater space in the rear for passengers to fit three-across in the third row. The body has what the brand calls a “boat tail-style uplift” for the extended rear, providing a departure angle of 28.5 degrees. Boot space weighs in at a relatively large 389 litres with all three rows in place, while the eight-seat version offers 1232 litres with the third row down, or 2291 with the third and second rows folded.
Meanwhile, the five-seat version offers 1329 litres with all seats deployed, or 2516 litres with the second row folded.
The Defender 130 can only be chosen with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine in either P400 petrol (194kW/550Nm) or D300 diesel (221kW/650Nm). The petrol can sprint from 0-100km/h in 6.6 seconds, while the diesel will do the same in 7.5. Power is driven to all four wheels via an eight-speed ZF torque-converter automatic transmission and twin-speed transfer box.
As standard all Defender 130s have adjustable electronic air suspension and feature a towing capacity of up to 3000kg. Payload comes in at 750kg for the eight-seat version, or 800kg for the five-seat version. It has a 900mm wading depth.
The 130 is offered in a single SE trim level, wearing a before-on-roads price-tag of $124,150 for the D300 or $131,650 for the P400.
Standard equipment includes 20-inch alloys, LED headlights, an 11.4-inch Pivi Pro multimedia system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and a new what3words built-in navigation suite, keyless entry and push-start ignition, and quad-zone climate control.
There are four option packs. The Country Pack adds mud flaps, loadspace partition, rear scuff plate, wheel arch protection, and a portable rinse system. The Explorer Pack includes mud flaps, a matte black bonnet decal, wheel arch protectors, a raised air intake, an exterior side-mounted gear carrier, and an ‘expedition’ roof rack. The Adventure Pack includes mud flaps, scuff plate, gear carrier, and a portable rinse system. The Extended Bright Pack includes a unique choice of alloy wheels and satin body finishes. Finally, the Urban Pack includes metal pedals, front underbody protection, and a rear scuff plate.
All Land Rovers are now covered by a five-year, unlimited kilometre warranty, and the Defender 130 has pre-paid service packs covering five years. The packs cost $2250 for the P400 or $2650 for the D300.
